Twenty-six players? I would be hoping for two more.

Hoping, yes, but not certain. My status as a goon may increase the odds, though. Story's game that just finished had six for 30, not 26, but all six had powers (if you count that Nanook was immune to Idle's investigation).
Anyway, we shall see!

Oh well, things to decide while we are waiting for any other to turn up.
Who to kill? Who to block? Who to track? Who to redirect?

I suggest we kill Pleonast. He's not vanilla, I bet.

Which reminds me:
Can we get a quick answer on this bufftabby, since it looks like it will come up -- the "generic" parts of a vanilla PM, please?
I don't know whether Pleo is quoting that accurately or if the actual term is something more like "plain follower".

Seriously, though, I think Pleonast is a great kill for Night Zero unless someone slips some kind of power role hint in.

I received this answer to the question about my role:
"Your subject will not learn anything of your identity or your role."
I assume this means that no hint of my power-usage is given no matter what.
Nice.

I can't believe Pleo and Ed both jumped to "help *out*" as opposed to "*help* out". I thought Pleonast's first response was along the lines of pegging the comment as too self-consciously helpful, or something, not this. If I didn't know better (or at least think I do), I'd be thinking scum for both of them.

Hey all. Sorry I am late to the party, I had family in town last night and things were hectic at the office today. I am your Emperor, nice to meet you. IV. The Emperor -- NAF1138 You are "emperor" of a secret and sanguinary cult. You have tired of performing your ritual feast in the wood, electing instead to feast within the castle's walls. One of your group shall prey at Night upon the fellow traveler of your cult's choosing. Should the cult be unable to reach a plurality in choosing the victim or the sacrificer, your word shall rule as law. As the Chosen One of The Dark, you cannot be observed when performing these sacrifices, appearing only as a dark fog. You are The Emperor by nature, Godfather by destiny. You are of The Dark, and will achieve glory when The Light is outnumbered by The Dark. Scum: bufftabby.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tarotscum password: visconti I will approve your account as soon after you confirm your PM as possible.

Interesting. That all but confirms the presence of town watchers and/or trackers. (It also implies you may not be immune to a normal detective, if there is one.) We'll have to keep that in mind when considering the actions of our other power roles as well as their ultimate fake claims. It's possible there might be a name investigator. I like having you with us, NAF. You're sneaky. About our win condition -- outnumbered by implies absolute majority ... will a tie not do? It also implies that third parties (if any) are irrelevant -- that we can win with them still around -- also true?

Speculation about Pleonast --
I do think there is a method to his madness. With LotR where he claimed power role when he was the doctor; though he never said so that I remember, his logic may well have been that doctor is the only power role that can't be protected by someone else. His pre-emptive action might serve to make him look scummy enough not to kill, or might trick the scum into thinking he himself would be protected at night; either is a good outcome for someone like him who always expects to be night killed.
This is probably something similar. He may actually *be* vanilla, and expect that reverse psychology will get him killed instead of a power role. Since he's said he's short on time, I consider this probable. However, if he is not actually vanilla, I expect him to have an rather bulletproof role claim, on the order of mason, or self-confirming townie or some such -- something that would allow him to survive the lynch-all-liars mentality or would render it irrelevant.
He could also be third party, just trying to be his predictable self, though I'd expect him to be aware of the potential pitfalls of a vanilla claim in such a case, and to be some sort of third party that doesn't require much in the way of observable actions; or better, which is immune to some of the problems. (Mad Bomber would almost fit the criteria. I found out in the last game here that I was never going to be vulnerable to watchers, because my targets were always people who were out of the limelight. Tracker is another issue, though, as is plain old alignment detective.) Anyway he's probably town by the numbers alone, if nothing else, but I feel like blathering

I like having you with us, NAF. You're sneaky. Thanks! I like having you with us. If you weren't on our team I would be suggesting we kill you toNight. As it is I think that sach is probably a good kill because he really is too damn smart, and that Pleo is probably telling the truth about being vanilla.

I'm sticking with what I said.
Let's kill Pleonast. I don't even care that he expressed suspicions of me. I think he is not vanilla and would make an excellent Night Zero kill.
And if he survives, he's the protector. He spent the last game I modded protecting himself all the time, no matter how long.
